Kulim Toastmasters Club

There was new vibration among members when it comes to end of the year. Most of senior and new members attended the last meeting with full energy and enthusiasm for new learning process.  Most of the members arrive early. President Ooi Cheong Yew was first to arrive at 7.20pm.  At sharp 8.00pm the meeting kicked off by our TOE  Aiman (New Member).  This was followed by welcoming speech by President and the meeting officially began with the Word of the day by Sabrina – “Resolution “.

President and the meeting officially began with the Word of the day by Sabrina – “Resolution “Humor segment was presented by P.K.Chin followed by Table Topics conducted by Cheong Yew with four different question based of the slogan of the listed below:

1. Honda – Power of Dreams 
2. Celcom  – It’s in your hands
3. Liverpool – You are not alone
4. Great Eastern – Life is Great

The participants were Shaiful Anwar CC, Sabrina CL, Kadir ACG,  Yogesh TM.

“Thought of the day” was delivered by TM Yogesh. The messages theme were 'Knowledge is all around us'. We are often imbibed through a person, whom we call as 'teacher'. A teacher is not the source of learning. A teacher is only a medium of learning. It is up to us to accept what to take, which are needed & how much to learn. We are also a 'teacher' to another, in that we serve as medium of knowledge to someone. So do plants, animals, rocks, sand water, air & fire teach us or serve as a medium of knowledge. Learning is also an 'Evolution' as it continues generation after generation. Following the Thought of the day, came 3 Assignment speeches.

• TM  Voon Ting delivered Project 6 – Vocal Variety with title her title “Why Retirement Planning is Crucial”
• TM Sok Kuan did her Project 3 – Get to the Point with a title of “Dealing with Difficult Person”
• The last speaker TM Mun Tyng completed Project 3 as well with title of “Dream”

DTM Rajagopal, the charter President, delivered an Educational segment on Roles of Officers and conducting showcase meetings. The speech evaluators were CL Ng Soon Kheong, CC Ooi Cheong Yew & ACG Kadir who had motivated the speakers with the tips for improvements. During the air –time; Area Governor, CC Sabrina announced the TLI training for Division N & S will be held on Sunday 6th December and special seminar by DTM John Lau, 3rd Vice-President on 12 th December “Skills for New breed of Leaders”DTM Sutharat had announced that he had collected a reward from Immediate Past District Governor, DTM Joseph Gomez during the semi-annual convention in Genting.  He then called upon ACG Kadir and presented it for his dedication and contribution towards toastmasters during the last term.  With that the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be held on Thursday 3rd Dec 2009.
