Kulim Toastmasters Club

Enthusiastic guests and members of KTMC arrived for the business meeting on Thursday 15^th April  2010 at Kulim Golf & Country Resort, Kulim. There were 9 guests in attendance. Fellowship was overflowing during dinner time.

President CC Ooi Cheong Yew cordially welcomed everybody for making it to the meeting, amidst tight schedules.

The Thought Master, CC Shaiful, narrated an inspirational account on “Gratitude”. During CC Yogeswaren’s Table topic session, C.J. Too attempted her talk on  “Money is the Key to Happiness”. It was well received.

The first assignment speech by CC, ALB, Sabrina was entitled “My Mum and Her One Eye”. It was an emotion-packed presentation.

The next speaker P.K. Chin attempted his talk on “Golf”. It created a great interest among the audience and members especially due to the effective   use of the visuals.

The educational segment was “Mind Your Diction” by DTM Rajagopal. This was an exclusive request by the VPE Shaiful as the proficiency of English seems to be a great concern.

The speaker started with a bang when he highlighted the importance of English in the borderless world. His statistics were well-quoted. The speaker included a real life story of a man whose diction became an immediate passport into the best business circles.

This followed anecdotes of Abraham Lincoln’s rise, from his childhood of a meager life and education to one of the most successful presidents of the United States through his knowledge and wit of the English Language, the lingua franca of the world.

DTM Rajagopal concluded by urging the audience to be more proficient in the language of the planet through listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary.

The hat of the general evaluator was worn by a guest. Guess who? The versatile Mee Yee from Sungai Bakap Toastmasters Club. She highlighted pertinent points to be considered to upgrade the quality of the future meetings.

The President wrapped up the meeting on time.
